The Action Group for Palestinians of Syria (AGPS) said that it had documented the death of over 3500 Palestinian refugees since the outbreak of the Syrian revolution in March 2011.
According to a report by the British-based monitoring group, at least 3,572 Palestinian-Syrians have been killed, including 462 women.
The Action Group said that at least 1,633 Palestinian-Syrians, including 103 women, are still detained in the prisons of the Assad regime.
The victims included 198 people who died as a result of malnutrition and lack of medical care resulting from siege, most of them in the Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus.
The Group went on to say that the siege imposed by the Assad regime forces and the militias of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command (PFLP-GC) on the Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus entered its 1513th day on Wednesday.
The Group pointed out that residents of Handarat camp for Palestinian refugees in Aleppo have been denied access to their homes for over four years, adding that the camp has been under the control of regime forces for over 339 days.
In late July, the group said that 1,621 Palestinian were still detained by the Assad regime’s security apparatuses, including more than 100 women.
Based in London, AGPS is composed of Palestinian and Arab human rights activists who monitor and document the violations against Palestinian-Syrians as no official or non-official institutions do the task. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
