Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz met with members of the Syrian opposition who concluded a two-day meeting in Riyadh on Thursday. King Salman bin Abdulaziz reaffirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is keen to bring about security, stability and justice to Syria, in order to for Syria to be safe and stable again. The King expressed hope that Syrians best serve their country, its fraternal people and the Arab nation.
Member of the Syrian Coalition Riyadh Hijab addressed the audience on behalf of the opposition delegates, expressing gratitude and appreciation for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for hosting the opposition conference.
Hijab stressed that opposition groups had announced commitment to peace, but that they would never spare an effort to put an end to the suffering of the Syrian people under Assad’s tyranny.
Hijab said Saudi Arabia’s firm position in Yemen and its keenness to put an end to repression had restored hope for the Yemenis. He added the firm Saudi position supporting the unity of the Syrian people and attempting to end the bloodshed gave the Syrian people hope for building a civil state free of injustice and tyranny.
