President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Hadi Al-Bahra, emphasized on the 13th anniversary of the June 3 massacre that justice must be achieved in a manner that honors the victims and their families and brings the perpetrators to international courts, ensuring international peace and security.
Al-Bahra remarked that on June 3, 2011, regime security forces confronted peaceful demonstrators in Hama city with a barrage of live bullets, resulting in the deaths of at least 65 peaceful demonstrators and injuring hundreds more who were carrying nothing but flowers and chanting for freedom and dignity. The protests on that day were dubbed “Children of Freedom Friday.”
Al-Bahra stressed that the Assad regime continues its oppression, violations, and killings, and the only way to end this tragedy is through the serious and strict implementation of UN resolutions, particularly Resolutions 2254 and 2118.
Tens of thousands of people demonstrated in Al-Asi Square and the surrounding streets in Hama on that Friday, raising slogans demanding freedom and the overthrow of the regime in a peaceful and civilized manner. However, the Assad regime responded with excessive brutality, confronting the demonstrators with violence and murder.
