The President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Hadi Al-Bahra, emphasized the United Nations’ responsibility to alleviate the suffering of al-Rukban refugee camp residents in a fair manner, criticizing its unjustifiable failure to provide humanitarian support and save lives.
Al-Bahra highlighted the worsening human suffering in the al-Rukban camp following a recent rainstorm, which caused severe damage to residents’ tents. He pointed out this occurred amidst the UN’s failure, and its agencies, to deliver life-saving aid due to the blockade imposed by the Assad regime and its supporters.
Al-Bahra reiterated the UN and the international community’s duty to end the refugees’ suffering in al-Rukban camp fairly, especially given the dire conditions families face regarding shelter, food, medicine, and other essentials.
