Al-Bahra Vows Justice for Jindires Victims' Families Through Law

President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Hadi Al-Bahra, extended his condolences to the Peshmerg family in the Jindires sub-district of Afrin countryside, marking the first anniversary of the tragic loss of four of their members during last year’s Nowruz holiday. Al-Bahra, along with his colleagues, expressed solidarity with the family, acknowledging the deep sorrow felt by both the Syrian people and himself over their profound loss.

Emphasizing the relentless pursuit of justice since the occurrence of the crime, Al-Bahra informed that diligent efforts by military police and judiciary led to the apprehension of suspects involved, with sentences issued against them. However, one perpetrator remains at large, prompting continued endeavors to locate and bring them to justice.

In a heartfelt exchange with the grieving family, Al-Bahra denounced the atrocious nature of the crime, assuring them that it remains a focal point in the liberated areas’ pursuit of justice. He reaffirmed the unwavering commitment to ensure that the perpetrators face the full extent of the law, highlighting the importance of delivering truth and justice to victims’ families.

Addressing the broader context of rising crime rates across Syrian regions, Al-Bahra attributed the increase to the ongoing chaos fueled by the Assad regime’s rejection of a political solution. He rejected the notion that such crimes reflect Syrian society’s values, emphasizing the collective condemnation and repudiation of such acts.

Al-Bahra underscored the significance of strengthening judicial authority and independence to foster justice, security, and stability in liberated areas, emphasizing that the victims’ plight resonates with all Syrians.

Additionally, Al-Bahra visited the home of Khaled Maamou in the Jindires sub-district of Afrin region, where a tragic incident claimed the life of his child at the hands of a bakery employee.

Expressing condolences to the grieving family, Al-Bahra commended the perpetrator’s father for voluntarily surrendering his son to military police upon learning of the crime, illustrating societal rejection of such heinous acts. The perpetrator, who confessed to the crime and disclosed the location of the victim’s remains, remains under investigation with dedicated efforts to ensure justice is served through the legal system.

Al-Bahra’s visit not only conveyed solidarity with affected families but also underscored the imperative of justice and collective societal responsibility in combating crime and fostering a safer, more secure environment for all Syrians.

Preserving independence and national sovereignty and maintaining the Syrian people's unity within the same Syrian soil is one of the critical pillars of the Syrian Coalition. The Coalition aims to overthrow the Assad regime along with all its symbols and pillars. It also aims to dismantle its security apparatus and hold accountable those involved in crimes against Syrians. In addition, it seeks to achieve a transition to a pluralistic, democratic and civil Syria.
