President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Hadi al-Bahra, congratulated the American people and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on “gaining the people’s trust.”
Bahra highlighted the American people’s power to drive change, stating, “The democratic process of power transition in the United States demonstrates the people’s ability to push for changes in public policy when it no longer aligns with their interests, general sentiment, and priorities.”
He continued, “We hope President Trump succeeds in implementing his program and election promises to end wars and achieve lasting peace globally, particularly in the Middle East. We also hope that the upcoming administration’s policies will be more positive and effective in advancing the political process in Syria to fulfill the aspirations of the Syrian people.”
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Tuesday won the U.S. election, securing 277 electoral votes compared to 224 for his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris.
