Abdul Majeed Barakat, Vice President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), condemned the recent increase in crimes committed by the PYD terrorist militia against Syrian civilians. He said these actions highlight the PYD’s persistence in following the bloody path of terrorist organizations and their alignment with cross-border terrorist agendas.
In a press statement, Barakat emphasized that Syrians are hoping for a political solution to end their 13-year-long suffering and restore hope for a better future. The military escalation by the PYD militia—receiving orders from Qandil—aims to provoke conflicts, stir ethnic tensions, and drag the Syrian crisis back to square one.
Barakat suggested the possibility of a deal between Iran and Qandil’s leadership, as these crimes ultimately serve Tehran’s interests and its sectarian militias operating in Syria and the region. He noted that such actions also bolster the propaganda of other terrorist groups like ISIS, which are attempting to resurface on the scene.
In recent days, the PYD militia committed several crimes against civilians. The latest involved planting an explosive device in a woman’s bag as she crossed from PYD-controlled areas to the village of Al-Salihiyah in Ras al-Ain countryside, Hassakeh Province. The device exploded in a civilian home, killing five members of a single family, according to the Al-Khabour news outlet.
Additionally, over Saturday and Sunday, the PYD militia shelled the town of Al-Bab in Aleppo countryside and several nearby villages and towns, resulting in multiple deaths and dozens of injuries.
