President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Hadi Al-Bahra, held an online meeting with activists and human rights defenders closely connected with Syrian refugees in the Turkish province of Kayseri. They discussed recent developments and the urgent needs to ensure the refugees’ security and stability.
The meeting included the coordinator and members of the SOC’s refugee and displaced persons working group.
Participants agreed to form an emergency team to monitor developments in Kayseri, address issues as they arise, support those affected by the attacks, secure urgent needs, and convey their concerns, requests, and recommendations to relevant Turkish government authorities to ensure their security and safety.
Al-Bahra strongly condemned the incitement campaigns and hate speech propagated by some racists. He emphasized the need for self-restraint and urged people not to be provoked by rhetoric aimed at destabilizing security and stability. Participants were informed of the SOC’s efforts in coordination with Turkish authorities, who have committed to holding accountable the rioters and those responsible for acts of sabotage. The authorities also took steps to maintain security and stability, ensuring the safety of all, including citizens, refugees, and residents in Türkiye.
