The political committee of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) held its regular meeting on Thursday to discuss the latest developments on the ground and the political situation in Syria. The committee also reviewed reports submitted by the SOC’s offices, departments, and working groups.
Vice President Abdel Majeed Barakat provided an overview of his recent work, addressing the SOC’s role in the events affecting Syrian refugees in the Turkish city of Kayseri and the subsequent developments in the liberated areas of northern Syria.
Barakat detailed the SOC’s communications with its executive institutions in the liberated areas and with Turkish authorities to restore security and hold those responsible for attacks on Syrian refugees accountable.
The SOC office in the Aleppo countryside gave an overview of its efforts to calm the situation in the liberated areas, highlighting cooperation between SOC members and the Syrian Interim Government in meetings with representatives of unions and activists.
The committee also discussed the latest political developments, recent Turkish statements, and reviewed a field report from the military bloc.
