Vice President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) Abdul Hakim Bashar condemned the terrorist bombing that targeted a military police checkpoint in the town of Azaz in the Aleppo countryside on Wednesday. The attack, involving a car bomb, resulted in the deaths of 11 civilians and injuries to 13 others.
Bashar emphasized that the military police and other civil institutions work tirelessly to ensure security and safety for civilians and are not involved in battles and wars. He underscored the urgent need to end such attacks, which undermine security and stability in the region. Bashar called for increased vigilance and protection of citizens, their dignity, and their property.
The attack specifically targeted the Al-Shat checkpoint at the western entrance of Azaz, on the road leading to Afrin. Concurrently with the explosion and rescue operations, the site was subjected to rocket shelling from areas jointly controlled by the Assad regime and the terrorist PYD militia, which further complicated the situation and exacerbated the damage.
