We are appalled by the recent gruesome footage of ISIS executions, in which the extremist group claims to have beheaded US aid worker Abdul-Rahman Kassig. Our hearts go out to the family of Kassig. Kassig will always be remembered by the Syrian people as a dedicated charity worker who gave them hope in time of despair. He will be remembered as a hero.
In addition to his work in distributing aid supplies to vulnerable civilians, Kassig took part in training scores of ordinary Syrians to become aid workers so that they can provide food, clothing, and medicine to their fellow Syrians in need. Kassig paid the ultimate sacrifice trying to relieve the suffering of his fellow human beings far away from home. The thugs of ISIS will pay the price for their evil crimes. They will be hunted down and brought to justice.
