The kidnapping and forced disappearing of teachers at the hands of the PYD terrorist militia in northern Syria represents a new chapter of intimidation, targeting this time the education and media sectors.
The detention of teachers and activists who oppose the ideology of the PYD terrorist group came as part of an ongoing campaign that began in the towns of Darbasiyah, Amouda, Ma’badah. It is a continuation of a desperate plan targeting the structure of the Syrian society by imposing a project aimed at distorting Syria’s culture and history and serving the PKK terrorist organization’s agendas and its malicious ideologies.
Attempts to prevent students from pursuing education constitute a blatant violation of human rights and a threat to their and the country’s future.
Teachers must be immediately released as students’ future must be secured away from any forms of threat.
The international community must realize the dangers of the PKK terrorist presence in Syria; the need to dismantle all its arms; put an end to their crimes; and ensure the release of thousands of civilians kidnapped in its detention centers. The international community must also support the goals of the Syrian revolution as a guarantee of the rights, freedoms and cultures of all components of the Syrian people.
The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) with all its components, including the Kurdish National Council, continues to seek an end to violations against civilians and policies that undermine the aspirations of the Syrian people. It also works on bringing an end to all threats that terrorist militias pose to the Syrian people while assuming its duties in order to ensure the rights of civilians in accordance with the criterion of citizenship only.
