Syrian Opposition Coalition – Syria

The restoration of ties with a regime that has long been enabling terrorism and seeking to sow discord and destabilize the region will not serve the interest of any state, especially the sisterly Arab states, let alone it is tantamount to putting more obstacles in front of the Syrian people’s quest for freedom and basic rights.
The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) laments the Arab people and governments extending their hands to a regime that is killing the Syrian people, especially after the regime was further besieged by the Caesar Act which imposed sanctions on the Assad regime’s military and security institutions and on all institutions, governments or regimes that supports them.
We call upon all our Arab brothers to commit to the Arab consensus in boycotting the murderous Assad regime and to refrain from normalization of relations with this regime under any pretext. Rather, we ask for their support for the demands of the Syrian people for an end to criminality and terrorism as well as for bringing about a transition to a state that is based on freedom, justice, and democracy.
The SOC stresses that the decision to restore relations with the Assad regime will only serve to support the regime’s ongoing crimes against the Syrian people. The SOC also warns that supporting the regime in these circumstances may amount to partnership in its crimes.
We reaffirm our commitment to the defense of the Syrian people’s demands for freedom and dignity through a political transition in accordance with international resolutions, most notably the Geneva Communique of 2012 and UN Security Council resolution 2254.
