Once again, the Assad regime has chosen to resort to military aggression, escalating hostilities and ruthlessly targeting civilians in rural Idlib and western rural Aleppo. This reckless behavior has led to a tragic toll of casualties, with dozens killed and wounded. It has also forced many civilians to flee to safer areas as they face deliberate attacks with incendiary and destructive weaponry.
The bombing of Idlib Hospital and the Women and Family Health Center in Sarmin represents nothing less than a war crime, and the regime must be held accountable for these heinous acts.
The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) issues a stern warning that the ongoing military escalation, rocket attacks, and the regime’s deployment of internationally prohibited weapons pose a direct and grave threat to the lives of over four million innocent civilians. This situation has triggered a surge in mass displacement, bringing with it a host of humanitarian crises, especially as winter approaches.
The SOC urgently calls upon the United Nations, its UN Security Council, and the global community at large, including our allies and major stakeholders, to take immediate and decisive action. It is imperative to halt the criminal regime’s relentless assault on our people in Idlib and the Aleppo provinces and swiftly provide the essential humanitarian assistance needed to avert a looming and catastrophic disaster for civilians.
