The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) expresses its best wishes for US President Joe Biden as his administration is assuming office, hoping that it will usher in an era of goodness, security and prosperity. We look forward to further constructive cooperation for our just cause.
Democracy and good governance, which the American people and their institutions have been able to safeguard, are exactly what the Syrian people aspire to. There must be real action towards establishing good governance, democracy and human rights in Syria under the auspices of international parties who believe in peoples’ rights.
No more time can be wasted. Every moment is precious for millions of refugees and internally displaced persons, as well as for the thousands of detainees who are at serious risk of death under torture or unfair death sentences.
We hope that in in the years to come, the top priority will be to uphold international law, protect civilians, and support peoples’ struggle for freedom and good governance.
The SOC is looking forward to building an effective, positive relationship and serious cooperation with President Biden’s administration so as to ensure a real political solution in Syria; implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2254; and holding war criminals accountable.
