The Syrian Opposition Coalition strongly condemns the heinous crimes being committed by the terrorist PYD militia in the provinces of Al-Hasakah and Raqqa. These crimes include the direct targeting of peaceful popular demonstrations demanding freedom and liberation from terrorist militias, using live ammunition, and subsequently arresting the wounded from hospitals and denying them treatment. Such actions constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The SOC calls on the international anti-ISIS coalition to urgently intervene to stop the violations of this militia and to cease its support, which the PYD uses against innocent Syrians as a tool for abuse and war crimes. Following the militia’s atrocities in Deir Ezzor, similar crimes are now being repeated in Al-Hasakah and Raqqa.
The SOC further urges the international coalition to stand with the Syrian people and support their aspirations during this critical phase Syria is experiencing following the fall of the Assad regime.
