The PYD militia, affiliated with the PKK terrorist organization, has committed new massacres and violations against civilians in the city of Deir Ezzor. They violently dispersed peaceful demonstrations with live ammunition, killing many, including children, in a chilling repetition of the deposed Assad regime’s practices against Syrians. These atrocities coincided with the looting of public property in areas they recently entered and the complete shutdown of all forms of communication to silence the voices of Syrians in the region.
The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) calls on the international anti-ISIS coalition to immediately halt all military, logistical, and political support to the PYD militia to deter its aggression. The SOC hopes that the leadership of the international coalition will play a strong and positive role in supporting the Syrian people to build a new Syria following the fall of the Assad regime.
