The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) condemns the terrorist attack involving a car bomb that ripped through a public market in the town of Azaz in the northern countryside of Aleppo at midnight on Sunday. The attack resulted in numerous civilian casualties, including at least two children and a woman killed, as well as injuries to others and substantial damage to shops, homes, and vehicles. The SOC emphasizes that such terrorist operations underscore the imperative of combatting terrorist militias, apprehending the perpetrators of this reprehensible attack, and ensuring they face justice.
The SOC reiterates the commitment of security forces and police to spare no effort in upholding the security and stability of liberated areas and safeguarding the civilian population. The SOC holds the Assad regime accountable for the presence and proliferation of terrorist organizations across Syria, emphasizing the regime’s role in creating fertile ground for their activities. It underscores the international community’s responsibility to solve the Syrian crisis through a comprehensive political solution, including the full and rigorous implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions, notably Resolutions 2118 (2013) and 2254 (2015).
Expressing solidarity with the people of Azaz and the families of the victims during these challenging times, the SOC extends heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of those affected by the terrorist bombing. Additionally, the SOC wishes a swift recovery to the wounded individuals and stands in solidarity with the Syrian people as a whole.
