I would like to send my warmest wishes to all Syrian Christians, and indeed to Christian communities all over the world. This holiday comes at a time when innocent people across the Middle East are facing unprecedented levels of violence and persecution due to their religious and personal beliefs.
The Christian community is an essential part of the Syrian colourful religious mosaic. As the uprising enters its 5th year – with the war taking its toll on all Syrians from all faiths and denominations – a political solution to the conflict is ever more pressing to share a future where we all live side by side in dignity and with mutual respect.
