Syrian Coalition – Syria

The Syrian Coalition reaffirms it will not change its stance towards the Assad regime. It also reasserts the need to disband the regime and overthrow it as well as to refer all those with blood on their hands to the International Criminal Court in line with the UN Security Council resolutions.
The Syrian Coalition rejects the remarks lately made by the Russian president as it affirms that the Syrian people everywhere will carry on with the revolution using all legitimate means until all their goals are achieved. For the past several years, the Syrian people have stood up to the Assad regime and its Russian and Iranian backers despite all the crimes they have committed as well as their terrorization and displacement of the Syrian civilians.
For nearly half a century, the Assad regime has denied the Syrian people the right to freedom, dignity and to live under good governance. It has ruled Syria with fire, repression and criminality. It has burned and destroyed Syria instead of leading it towards the future. These facts are well known to the whole world, especially the Russians and the Iranians who are supporting this criminal and showing total disregard for the rights of the Syrian people, the real interests of their peoples, and the international law.
The Syrian people will never give up their essential rights, armed with the UN Security Council resolutions, especially resolutions 2118 and 2254. They cling to the belief that they will achieve victory in the face of the forces of tyranny and repression.
The criminals and their backers will not admit their crimes, nor will they admit their responsibility for obstructing efforts to reach a solution as they are looking for every means to kill the real political solution. They can only continue to cherish their illusions to justify the horrible crimes for which they are providing a cover and in which they have been directly involved for the past several years.
It is still possible to put an end to the tragedy unfolding in Syria. The international parties can still genuinely push for a political solution through putting effective pressure on the Assad regime and oblige it to engage in a real political process leading to the implementation of the Geneva Communiqué of 2012 and the establishment of a Transitional Governing Body (TGB) with full powers leading to future in which Syrians can enjoy freedom and dignity.
