Secretary-General of the Syrian Opposition Coalition expresses his high appreciation and full confidence in the firm position of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with regard to the situation in Syria. He particularly appreciates the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s support for the Syrian people, assistance to refugees and IDPs, and support for the political process, in addition to the rejection of any engagement with the Assad regime. He stresses the importance of Saudi Arabia’s role in supporting the political process, especially the political solution based on the Geneva Communique of 2012 and UN Security Council resolutions.
The firm position of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia towards the Assad regime represents the cornerstone of supporting the Syrian people and standing up to who are trying to promote normalization with criminals and murderers.
The Syrian-Saudi relations have a special character. The Kingdom’s efforts to support the Syrian people since the start of their revolution are well known and continuing. The Kingdom is playing a pivotal role in ending the suffering of the Syrian people, supporting opportunities for a political solution in Syria, and ending the Iranian intervention in the region.
We are fully confident that the principled and consistent positions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be the cornerstone in rebuilding the Arab front to be more effective in the regional environment.
