The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) extends its warmest congratulations to the free and steadfast Syrian people as well as the Arab and Islamic nations on the occasion of the auspicious Eid al-Fitr, wishing that the next Eid will bring with it good, victory and relief for Syrians as well as well-being and blessings for the Arab and Islamic nations.
For eleven years, the Syrian people has observed the auspicious Eid al-Fitr with pain and grief due to the crimes of the Assad regime, Russia and Iran whose atrocities forced millions of Syrians to flee their homes and seek refuge in many countries of the world.
Every time Eid comes, the tragedy of thousands of women who lost their loved ones is renewed, and thousands of families remember their loved ones who are still in detention in the prisons of the Assad regime, which have turned into human slaughterhouses.
Hundreds of thousands of detainees cannot observe this occasion because they are kept in dark dungeons that never see sunlight. They are being tortured day and night because they demanded freedom and dignity for their country.
The Tadamon Massacre, which was perpetrated by the Assad regime’s intelligence officers, is one of thousands of similar hidden massacres that, if revealed, can answer the fate of tens of thousands of the disappeared persons and missing. The world must not continue with its inaction towards the murderous regime after a trove of evidence and documents, gathered over the course of more than ten years, had proved that it is a brutal, genocidal regime.
The determination and persistence of the free Syrians will enable them to move forward on the path they took eleven years ago, the path of freedom and dignity, in order to create a new Eid for all Syrians represented in the day of salvation from the Assad regime and its allies as well as all foreign militias that are killing Syrians.
The SOC extend its greetings to the great, steadfast and patient people of Syria for their insistence on continuing with their revolution and principles despite all the adverse circumstances.
Eid Mubarak
