With deep sorrow and sadness, the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) mourns the passing of the renowned Syrian dramatist Fouad Humaira, who passed away today (Friday, June 14) in Cairo, Egypt, at the age of 59 due to a heart attack.
Humaira began his artistic career early with theatrical works and became famous for his distinctive contributions to drama writing. His exceptional work enriched Syrian art and drama, particularly through his works that depicted the concerns of contemporary Syrian society.
Humaira stood by the freedom revolution, defending human dignity and freedom of expression, opposing tyranny, corruption, and criminality.
The name of the late dramatist will remain engraved in the minds of Syrians through his remarkable artistic works, including “Gazelles in a Wolf’s Forest,” “Syrian Sour Grapes,” “Another Rainy Day,” “Hot Winter,” “Narrow Corridors,” and “Men Under the Tarboosh.” His supportive stances for the rights and aspirations of Syrians will also be remembered.
The SOC extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, his friends, admirers, and the entire Syrian people. Our prayers are for his mercy, and we wish his family patience and solace.
We belong to God and to Him we shall return.
