The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) extends its deepest condolences to the Islamic nation on the passing of Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi at the age of 96, asking Allah Almighty to have mercy on him, forgive him and accept his good deeds.
The late al-Qaradawi spent his lifetime in the service of Islam and Muslims, resisting oppression, extremism and tyranny. He also sided with the oppressed peoples looking for a free and dignified life, supporting the demands of the Syrian people for freedom and salvation from the Assad regime.
Al-Qaradawi founded the International Union of Muslim Scholars and served as its first president. He left behind a huge catalogue of books, researches and articles that covered the various strands of thought, jurisprudence and knowledge, and sought to raise awareness and promote moderation amongst the Islamic nation.
We offer our condolences to Al-Qaradawi’s family, relatives, and all Muslims around the world.
Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return
