The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) expressed its full support for the Iranian people and their uprising against the mullahs’ regime as it called on the international community to support the protests, stand with the Iranian people’s demands, and take firm measures towards violations against protesters.
In a press release issued on Sunday, the SOC said: “The mullahs regime’s ongoing brutal crackdown against the protesters demonstrates that it is a repressive, tyrannical regime that is willing to kill its own people in order to carry on with its sectarian, subversive project it has been working on for years. Indeed, the Iranian regime is showing the same response that the Assad regime has showed in oppressing unarmed protesters and trying to cut them off from the outside world by shutting down the internet.”
The SOC stressed that “the popular uprising that was triggered by the brutal murder of the young women Mahsa Amini reflected the pent-up frustrations and popular discontent with the Iranian regime. This anger is the result of the internal crises that the Iranian regime has caused and the regional terrorism that it is practicing by recruiting sectarian militias to spread chaos in Syria, Yemen, Iraq and Lebanon.”
“It is imperative that the international community maintain international peace and security, which cannot be achieved as long as the sponsors of local, regional and global terrorism are there, namely the regime of Assad, the Iranian mullahs, and Vladimir Putin. These regimes are openly supporting one another, committing war crimes, and destabilizing Syria, Ukraine and other countries.”
