The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) is deeply saddened by the passing of Jihad Matar, a member of the General Assembly and representative of the Raqqa Governorate in the SOC. He passed away at the age of 56 due to a heart attack he suffered in the Turkish state of Şanlıurfa.
Mr. Matar made significant contributions to the political and legal fields and actively participated in the Syrian Revolution against the Assad regime since its inception. He dedicated himself to achieving the goals of the Syrian Revolution over the past years, and his unwavering efforts and dedication will always be remembered.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time. May Allah grant him mercy and forgive him. We belong to Allah, and to Him, we shall return.
