The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) mourns the writer and media figure Abdullah Zanjir who passed away of a heart attack at the age of fifty-five in Istanbul on Tuesday.
The SOC expresses its sincere condolences to Zanjirâs family, friends and colleagues as it praises his valuable role and mission in the field of education and educational media to serve the Syrian people and their revolution.
Zanjirâs departure represents a great loss. However, the mission for which he devoted his life will continue after him through his colleagues and students who have benefited from his initiatives, activities and pioneering educational projects. The most important of these were the Sana educational TV channel and the Syrian digital school which he launched with the aim of providing education to Syrians in the IDPs camps, across all liberated areas, and the host countries. These projects have considerably contributed to preserving the language and identity of our children.
May Allah bless him with His mercy and forgiveness. Verily we belong to Allah and verily to Him do we return.
