The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) extends its unwavering support to the escalating anti-regime protests recently witnessed across various regions of Syria. These demonstrations have gained momentum in the southern provinces of Daraa and Suwayda, the Damascus suburb of Jaramana, and coastal areas. The protestors are resolutely demanding the overthrow of the Assad regime, highlighting the regime’s pivotal role in instigating the crises in Syria. Moreover, the demonstrators underscored that the Assad regime bears direct responsibility for the deteriorating living conditions and collapse of essential services within the territories under its control.
The SOC earnestly appeals to both Arab and international media outlets, urging them to concentrate their coverage on these protests and meticulously track unfolding events. It is paramount that the media accurately relay the voices and aspirations of the people, particularly as they boldly express their dissent within regions under the grip of the oppressive Assad regime. The SOC also calls upon the Syrian populace across all provinces to unite against the Assad regime, fostering a collective effort to eradicate a war criminal who stands culpable for countless atrocities against innocent civilians.
The SOC firmly emphasizes the necessity for liberated regions to stand in solidarity with the anti-regime protests taking place in the south. This unity can be demonstrated through large-scale rallies, serving to underscore the shared objective of toppling the Assad regime. Syria’s future hinges upon the participation of its entire populace, as they strive to manifest the Syrian people’s collective aspiration for freedom, justice, and dignity—a future wherein the Assad regime has no place.
Despite its current military control facilitated through the implementation of a scorched-earth policy, the Assad regime, along with its allies, does not possess legitimate authority over Syrian territories. The recurring anti-regime demonstrations, notwithstanding the regime’s efforts to suppress them through acts of violence, murder, and detentions, unequivocally reflect the Syrian people’s outright rejection of any presence for the Assad regime in Syria’s future.
