The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) warns of the dangers of allowing the Iranian regime to actualize its malicious schemes in southern Syria with the help of its Russian ally. These plans aims to change the demographic landscape in the region through brutal besiegement and shelling and the mass forced displacement of the indigenous population and replacing them with Iranian-backed multinational sectarian militias.
The SOC also warns that the damage of these malicious plans will not be limited to Syria, but to all countries in the region, especially Jordan and the Arab Gulf states. This situation requires an urgent intervention by the Arab states and Turkey, with all their international weight, to save the people of Dara’a, ensure lifting the blockade on them, and protect them from the brutality of the Iranian militias and regime forces.
The major actors in the international community, especially the United States and the European Union, are required to take swift action in order to deter the regime and its enablers from carrying on with their crimes against the people of Dara’a.
The SOC warns against being deceived by Russia’s allegations about reaching an agreement with Turkey to displace the people of Dara’a. These allegations are baseless as our people in Dara’a have already experienced the lies, deceit and treachery of the Russians more than anybody else.
The SOC commends the steadfastness, courage and heroism of our people in Dara’a as well as their solidarity, cooperation, and determination to stay on their land. Any new plans for forcing any Syrian citizen from their land will constitute a war crime and a crime against humanity to be added to the endless litany of crimes that the murderous regime and its backers are committing against the Syrian people. The perpetrators of these atrocious crimes must be held accountable.
