The PYD militia insists on pursuing criminal policies towards our people in the region east of the Euphrates River, namely in Deir Ezzor, Raqqa, Hasakah, and Qamishli; in every village and town in this beloved part of our homeland.
From taking control of land by force of arms to mass forced displacement, demographic change, burning of whole villages and agricultural crops, bringing in mercenaries from Qandil Mountain, the forcible recruitment of the people of the region, including children and women, arrest campaigns and murder under torture, looting the region’s resources, sending car bombs to civilian areas, assassinations, imposition of ideology-based educational curricula, threatening the social fabric and risking the eruption of a war between the social components, and most recently the issuance of a law regarding absentees’ property in an attempt to legitimize its ongoing violations of property rights.
It is time to stop providing a cover-up for the PYD militia’s atrocious crimes violating all heavenly and earthly laws as well as all values and norms.
We are in a bitter, intense battle against the murderous Assad regime, the regime of tyranny, totalitarianism, and one-party rule. Our people today in Al-Jazeera region east of the Euphrates are suffering the same repressive, racist practices of the Baath Party and the Assad regime’s security agencies. This injustice does not differentiate between Arab, Kurds, Assyrians, or Turkomans or between Muslims, Christians, or Yazidis. We do not want this injustice to continue. We hope that our friends, especially the United States, will stand on the side of our people to get rid of this terrorist militia.
In light of the political, security and societal rifts this group is causing, we in the Syrian Opposition Coalition, as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people, call upon our allies in the United States to force the PYD militia out and hand over the area to the SOC-affiliated local councils which are made up of the local people of the region; its societal and political forces in order to spare the region the worst case scenario that the PYD militia’s actions are threatening to create.
We stand ready – through the Syrian Interim Government and the special department for Al-Jazeera and the Euphrates region, to take over the management of the region; set up a new local council; and manage its resources for the good of everyone.
Terrorism in Syria has many faces, manifested most clearly in the behavior of the Assad regime, the sectarian Iranian militias, Al-Qaeda-affiliated extremist militias, and the racist militias affiliated with the PKK organization. The Syrian people is fighting a battle against all these obnoxious denominations.
Our revolution and struggle for freedom, dignity, and independence will continue. We will spare no effort to build a state that is based on freedom, democracy, rule of law, safety, and prosperity. We will remain guided by the enormous sacrifices of our people, rarely of which any people has ever made for sake of their freedom and dignity.
