The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) condemns the recent statements made by the Iranian regime, which aim to spread chaos, destabilize security, and incite sectarian strife in Syria. This is being done through the remnants of the defunct Assad regime and Iran’s agents, who have been involved in sectarian protests and terrorist operations targeting Syrian security forces, resulting in the killing and injury of several personnel.
The SOC emphasizes that these agents of Iran and the remnants of the former regime do not represent the Alawite community, which, through numerous statements from its leaders and elders, has affirmed its solidarity with the Syrian people. The community supports holding accountable all those whose hands are stained with Syrian blood. The SOC urges all Syrians, during these critical times, to adhere to the directives of military leadership in regions recently affected by tensions, ensuring their safety and preventing exploitation by regime remnants and Iranian agents.
The SOC holds the Iranian regime fully responsible for these events and calls on it to cease interfering in Syrian affairs. It reiterates that Iran’s record in Syria is rife with war crimes and crimes against humanity, committed in partnership with the former regime. Syria is committed to holding accountable all those complicit in the bloodshed of innocent Syrians.
Syria today needs the efforts of all its people to rise again after decades of oppression and tyranny. All Syrians are called upon to engage in collective national work and to reject any form of division among their fellow citizens. This unity is essential for achieving security, stability, and peace, paving the way for rebuilding, prosperity, and progress.
The SOC expresses its support for the Syrian Interim Government in activating independent, fair, and impartial judicial mechanisms to prosecute perpetrators of crimes against humanity and war crimes. It stresses the importance of cooperation from all Syrians with the relevant authorities to restore security and reinforce civil peace across all Syrian provinces.
