The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) emphasizes that the European Union delegation to Syria’s recent publication is misleading and falsifies the facts. The delegation’s portrayal of the buildings destroyed by the bombing of the Assad regime, Russia, and their allies in Aleppo, and claiming that they were damaged by the recent earthquake deceives the public opinion, exonerates the murderous Assad regime and its allies, and blurs the scene of the crime. The marks of the shells are clear on the buildings in the video recently circulated by the EU delegation.
An official from the European Union to Syria stated that the northwestern regions of Syria are a conflict zone and cannot be reached. However, the SOC points out that this statement demonstrates ignorance of the reality of the region or intentionally misleads, as the liberated areas are open to all delegations, and many UN officials have conducted tours there already.
The UN and European Union delegations’ handling of the earthquake catastrophe has caused great frustration for the Syrian people, who were left alone in the face of the devastating earthquake and saw the relief aid being sent to the war criminal Assad, who exploited the humanitarian catastrophe to re-legitimize himself.
The SOC calls on the European Union delegation not to be drawn into the disinformation campaign led by the criminal regime. The SOC also urges the international community not to allow the Assad regime to exploit the earthquake disaster, to seek to obtain an accurate description of the Syrian reality, and to intensify efforts to find mechanisms that ensure the achievement of the political transition and hold the Assad regime accountable for its crimes.
