Press Release
Syrian Coalition
Istanbul, Turkey
March 12, 2014
Today marks the tenth anniversary of the uprising which took place in the northeastern city of Qamishli in 2004. With its notorious brutality, the Assad regime launched a crack-down killing scores of protesters and wounding hundreds.
During over 40 years of the Assad family’s tyrannical rule, hundreds of thousands of civilians have been killed. May they rest in peace.
The Syrian Coalition renews its rejection of all extremist groups and organizations trying to impose their own radical ideology on the Syrian people.
The Syrian Coalition reiterates the need to maintain national unity and abide by the guiding principles of the revolution. The Coalition further commends the determination and resilience of the Syrian people struggling to establish a united, free, independent, and pluralistic Syria; where all citizens are equal regardless of their ethnic, religious, or political affiliation.
We ask for Mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our detainees.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
