Louay Safi, spokesperson of the Syrian Coalition stressed in a press conference Saturday in Istanbul, that, “Weapons of Mass Destruction are extremely dangerous weapons the world has banned the use of. The Assad regime’s use of those weapons only demonstrates the cruelty, recklessness, and criminality of the ruling clique in Syria.”
Dr. Safi also said: “We hoped any agreement on the elimination of chemical weapons would include the whole region, countries of the Middle East. However, the reckless criminal Assad regime forced the making of such an agreement a necessity.”
The Coalition’s spokesperson called the international community to “punish those responsible for the use of chemical weapons and bringing them to an international trial.”
“The use of chemical weapons against the Syrian people by the Assad regime is a crime against humanity. It is a continuation of the regime’s crimes against civilians. The regime continues to shell towns and villages across Syria with heavy weapons using aircrafts, tanks, rocket launchers, and ballistic missiles. That is why we call on the international community to stop Assad targeting civilian areas and move heavy weapons away from those areas,” Mr. Safi added.
We ask for Mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our detainees.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
