Child Killed in Regime & Russian Bombardment on Idlib and Hama

A child was killed and five other civilians were injured in rocket and artillery shelling by the Assad regime and its Russian ally on the town of Kafranbel in rural Idlib as well as villages in northern rural Hama and southern rural Idlib on Monday.

Local activists said that Assad forces stationed at al-Tarabeeh checkpoint shelled the village of Zakat in northern rural Hama, killing a child and causing material damage to civilian property.

Russian forces stationed in the village of Gbeibat Abu al-Huda and Al-Tama base shelled the town of Kafranbel with rockets, wounding four civilians who were rushed to nearby medical centers.

A woman suffered minor injuries when regime forces stationed at Breidij checkpoint north of Hama shelled the village of Habeet in southern rural Idlib. Civil defense volunteers rushed the woman to a nearby medical center, local activists said.

The towns of Kafarzeita, Morek, Latamina, Janabra, Al-Sakhar, and Al-Arbaeen came under rocket and artillery shelling by Assad regime and Russia forces stationed in the towns of Halfaya, Souran, Jubain, Shaykh Hadid and Gbeibat Abu al-Huda. The shelling caused material damage.

Idlib province has been subjected to frequent rocket and artillery shelling by the Assad regime and Russia forces although the area is covered by the Russian-Turkish agreement. The shelling is causing many deaths and injuries among civilians.

The Syrian Coalition earlier condemned the Assad regime’s attacks targeting populated areas, calling on the international community to deter regime forces and hold accountable those responsible for repeated violations against civilians. Preserving independence and national sovereignty and maintaining the Syrian people’s unity within the same Syrian soil
is one of the critical pillars of the Syrian Coalition. The Coalition aims to overthrow the Assad regime along with all its
symbols and pillars. It also aims to dismantle its security apparatus and hold accountable those involved in crimes
against Syrians. In addition, it seeks to achieve a transition to a pluralistic, democratic and civil Syria.
