The Interim Ministry of Education said it finished initial preparations for the operation of the University of Aleppo in the northern provinces for the academic year 2015-2016 as part of its plan to operate universities in the liberated areas.
The ministry will later announce a date for a test for academics who want to teach at the university which is expected to accommodate approximately 10,000 students.
The university will adopt the modern units system currently applied in the European universities and will open departments of colleges in the liberated areas in other provinces.
The ministry hopes the new academic year will begin in September to take in the high school graduates according to conditions which will be announced later.
A source in the Interim Ministry of Education said that despite the many difficulties and obstacles, the Ministry has to secure higher education in the liberated areas for students deprived of education for over four years.
He added that the ministry would work to secure recognition of the certificate that will be issued by the university through holding agreements and partnerships with European and international sides.
He also said that the university would hire a teaching staff from defected academics, adding that this is an important step to complete the withdrawal of the international legitimacy of the Assad regime. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
