Nasr al-Hariri, Secretary General of the Syrian Coalition, condemns Assad’s air force targeting of two hospitals in the provinces of Deir Ezzor and Idlib, describing the attacks as “violating the Geneva Convention related to the protection of civilians during wartime.” He also said that the Assad regime has been systematically and deliberately targeting schools, mosques, hospitals and medical centers, relief aid warehouses and residential neighborhoods, encouraged by the world’s dubious and unprecedented silence on these industrial crimes. Hariri calls on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and protect civilians in Syria through providing practical support for the Free Syrian Army to beat off the terrorism of the Assad regime and the extremist group ISIS. He also reiterates calls for establishing safe protected havens in northern and southern Syria in accordance with a study presented by the Syrian Coalition in this regard. Activists said that 12 people, including a doctor and his wife, were killed in the air raids on a hospital in the town of Al Maiyadin in Deir Ezzor, while 14 more were killed in a similar attack on Orient Hospital in the town of Kafranbel in Idlib province.
