Rebels in Aleppo announced that they had killed the commander of the regime’s operations in southern rural of Aleppo during violent clashes in the area, while barrel bomb attacks killed two civilians in Tariq al-Bab district and three more in the towns of Azaz and Tal Rifa’at. A number of militants of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) were killed in a car bombing in the town of Ain al-Arab (Kobanî) near the Turkish border, while a number of rebel factions announced the formation of a unified force of an initial 600 fighters to defend the city of Aleppo against the escalating attacks of regime forces and ISIS. Rashid Takko, commander of Jaish al-Sham, said that a convoy of Dawud Brigade, which was supposed to relieve the rebels in Aleppo, switched sides and headed to Al Raqqa to join ISIS.
