The Education Program in the Assistance Coordination Unit (ACU) has started implementing the “To Learn” project and distributed 220,000 school uniforms, 237,500 bags and stationery to schoolboys in Syria. The material is going to be distributed by the directorates of education in the provinces of Hama, Aleppo, Idlib, and Lattakia. Noureddine Mahamid, the education official in charge of following up on the work of the directorates of education in Syria, said that “we are seeking to expand the delivery of school aid to other Syrian provinces, but we are being faced by difficulties due to the lack of safe roads. A third party is going to monitor the delivery of the aid and prepare a report about its progress.” Mahamid stresses the importance of this program as it coincides with the start of the school year that doubles the financial burdens on the families of students.
