The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Office of Syndicates and Unions submitted a report detailing its work and activities to the General Assembly in its 52nd meeting. The report highlighted the results of the Office’s work in recent weeks and its plan of action for the months to come.
Coordinator of the Office, Abdul Majeed Barakat, said that the Office is working to strengthen cooperation and coordination with the various Syrian syndicates and unions in view of their role in organizing the affairs of Syrian craftsmen and solving their problems.
Barakat pointed out that the Office held various meetings to achieve its goal, including the Syrian National Olympic Committee, the Central Bar Association, and the Syrian General Syndicate of Teachers. He added that the Office raised the problems facing Syrian athletes, lawyers and teachers, and put forth a set of recommendations to solve them.
Barakat also pointed out that the Office made important achievements in terms of forming sports federations and organizing a football tournament for Syrian clubs in southern Turkey.
Barakat indicated that the Office will seek to increase coordination with the General Syndicate of Teachers and supervise the restoration and expansion of the Syndicate’s branches and its upcoming elections. It will also hold a meeting with Head of the Bar Association in the liberated areas and increase coordination with the committees concerned with legal affairs.
The Office is also planning to hold a meeting bringing together young athletes under the supervision of the National Olympic Committee to solve outstanding problems. The Office will also launch training courses for referees of various sports and communicate with the Union of Syrian Students in Turkey and in the liberated areas. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
