Head of the Syrian Interim Government (SIG), Abdulrahman Mustafa, said that the Assad regime is unable to find a solution to the bread and fuel crises in the areas under its controls.
The Assad regime’s war against the Syrian people is mainly to blame for the economic meltdown and the dire living conditions the Syrian people are enduring, Mustafa told to the Turkish Anadolu Agency on Thursday. He pointed out that the bread and fuel crisis in the regime-controlled areas has further worsened in the last three weeks.
Mustafa said that the Assad regime blames its failure to meet the needs of the people on the Caesar Act under which the US imposed sanctions on the Assad regime and its backers while excluding humanitarian aid, food and medical supplies.
Moreover, Mustafa pointed out that the deteriorating economic situation and the Assad regime’s failure to secure the people’s needs existed long before the issuance of the Caesar Act.
Mustafa expressed his concern about the suffering of the residents living in the areas under the control of the Assad regime, stressing that the residents of the regime-held areas do not trust the regime’s justifications for the ongoing crisis. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
