President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem al-Meslet, sent letters to representatives of the states that have recently become members of the UN Security Council, calling for supporting the Syrian people’s quest for freedom, dignity and democracy.
The letters were addressed to Ronaldo Costa Filho, Brazil’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates, Ferit HOXHA, Albania’s Permanent UN Representative, Michel Xavier Biang, Gabon’s Permanent UN Representative, and Harold A. Agyeman, Ghana’s Permanent UN Representative.
Al-Meslet congratulated the ambassadors as he stressed the SOC’s keenness to establish fraternal, distinguished relations with their countries and peoples, as well as its strong desire to strengthen joint relations.
Al-Meslet stressed the importance of preventing the rehabilitation of the Assad regime as he called for supporting political transition in Syria in accordance with the 2012 Geneva Communiqué and the relevant UN resolutions, especially UN Security Council resolutions 2254 and 2118, as well as the UN General Assembly Resolution 67/262.
