Vice President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC), Abdul Hakim Bashar, presented his work report to the General Assembly at its 61st regular session. The report detailed the activities and results of the meetings and symposiums he participated in in the last two months.
Bashar talked about the meetings he held in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region during which he gave an overview on the field and political developments in Syria, especially in the areas east of the Euphrates in addition to the obstacles to intra-Kurdish dialogue.
Bashar also talked about the results of the meetings and symposiums in which he participated regarding the future of Syria and the fate of Syrian refugees in the region. He also talked about his participation in the activities held during the 2004 uprising that shook the throne of the Assad regime and the 11th anniversary of the start of the Syrian Revolution.
With regard to the security situation in the liberated areas, Bashar stressed that there are parties that are exaggerating the violations being committed by some individuals with the aim of discouraging the residents of Afrin from returning to their homes. He stressed the need to address these abuses in order to prevent the hostile parties from dissuading the return of local people to their homes.
