in Coalition News

Head of the Syrian Interim Government (SIG), Abdurrahman Mustafa, presented his work report to the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) General Assembly at its 61st regular session.

Mustafa spoke about the meetings he held with Western envoys and diplomats in which he presented SIG’s projects and action plan to improve the living conditions and basic services in the liberated areas.

Mustafa also talked about the tours he has recently made in the liberated areas, during which he met with the commanders of the Syrian National Army as well as heads of local councils, service institutions and revolutionary bodies. He discussed with them the services projects that need improvement and the challenges they face in achieving their desired goals.

Moreover, Mustafa gave an overview on SIG’s major activities and projects in the liberated areas, pointing out that SIG issued a decision to adopt the bylaws of the Sports and Youth Commission, and also another decision to approve the formation of a local council in Raqqa province.

Mustafa also talked about the work of the Ministry of Defense and its efforts to follow up on the situation on the ground and raise the combat readiness of the Syrian National Army fighters, in addition to following up on the work of the military police, the military judiciary and department of standards of conduct.

Mustafa also praised the efforts being made by the Ministry of Defense to organize courses aimed at raising awareness of human rights, strengthening commitment to international humanitarian law, and addressing individual abuses. Seven courses have so far been offered, in which 153 trainees participated.

Mustafa also talked about the work of the Ministry of Interior, especially the recruitment of new elements in the police force and security forces in the Al-Rai area. He also talked about the Ministry’s role in controlling the security situation in the liberated areas and confronting terrorist attacks that target civilians, markets and infrastructure in these areas.

The report also detailed the work of the Ministry of Economy, the work of the General Grain Foundation, and the General Directorate of Customs. It also talked about the living conditions in the liberated areas, the inflation rate and the available materials, the quantities of flour available in the mills of the Foundation, and the price of bread.

Mustafa also talked about the role of the Ministry of Health in providing medical care to citizens in the liberated areas, pointing to the importance of the ambulance services. He pointed out that the Ministry has so far provided emergency medical services to more than 3,200 patients.

Preserving independence and national sovereignty and maintaining the Syrian people's unity within the same Syrian soil is one of the critical pillars of the Syrian Coalition. The Coalition aims to overthrow the Assad regime along with all its symbols and pillars. It also aims to dismantle its security apparatus and hold accountable those involved in crimes against Syrians. In addition, it seeks to achieve a transition to a pluralistic, democratic and civil Syria.
