Secretary-General of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Haitham Rahma, presented a report on the work of the General Secretariat to the General Assembly at its 61st regular session. The report detailed the work of the General Secretariat and its role in supporting the political and legal work of the SOC and its institutions.
Rahma gave an overview on the legal and administrative work in the General Secretariat as he stressed the importance of strengthening institutional work, raising the level of intra-Syrian communication, and providing the necessary services and support to the activities of SOC’s departments, offices and committees.
Rahma talked about the work of the SOC’s offices in the liberated areas, stressing the need to further strengthening the SOC’s presence in the liberated areas and developing administrative work.
He pointed to the importance of cooperation and coordination with the Syrian Interim Government and the Assistance Coordination Unit in all operational matters related to serving Syrian civilians in the liberated areas and host countries.
Rahma also briefed the General Assembly about his participation in the work of the seventh session of the Constitutional Committee in Geneva. He spoke about the disappointing results due to the ongoing obstructionism by the Assad regime with the support of its international backers.
