The political committee of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) convened its session on Monday, beginning with a moment of silence in honor of the victims of the Ghouta Massacre perpetrated by the Assad regime on this same day in 2013. On the tenth anniversary of the massacre, the committee emphasized the imperative of holding the Assad regime accountable for its use of chemical weapons against the Syrian people.
The committee underlined that, in light of the multitude of crimes perpetrated by the Assad regime, it is untenable for the international community to maintain silence in the face of the Syrian people’s suffering and the ruthless massacres executed by the Assad regime alongside its Russian and Iranian allies.
Furthermore, the committee voiced unwavering support for the recent upsurge of protests in the capital, Damascus, as well as the provinces of Suwayda and Daraa, and in parts of Aleppo and the Syrian coast. It underscored the necessity for the Syrian people to stand in solidarity with their revolutionary brethren against the Assad regime.
The Office of Civil Society Organizations presented a comprehensive report on the workshop convened last week in Gaziantep. Attended by 15 Syrian organizations operational in the health sector across liberated regions in northwestern Syria, the workshop’s findings were shared.
Additionally, the Office of Refugee Affairs presented its operational report detailing the circumstances of Syrian asylum seekers stranded in Greece. The report included suggestions furnished by the Office to the United Nations concerning asylum seekers currently trapped in the Evros River region.
