The Violations Documentation Office of the Ahrar Houran Conglomerate said that it documented the deaths of 39 people in Dara’a province in February. It pointed out that the Assad regime’s security services continue to harass the people in southern Syria with the aim of spreading chaos and suppressing the revolution in the region.
The Office said it recorded 35 assassinations and attempted assassination by the Assad regime forces in the province, which claimed the lives of 26 people and injured 10 others. It noted that eight people survived assassination attempts.
The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) earlier called on the people of southern Syria to stand united to confront the Assad regime’s attempts to sow sedition and suppress the revolution in the south. It stressed that Dara’a, the birthplace of the revolution, will remain resistant to the conspiracies of the criminal regime and its backers, and will remain at the forefront of revolution and the battle against tyrants.
Activists and residents of Dara’a province accuse the Assad regime’s security services and the Iranian militias of standing behind the assassinations of former opponents of the Assad regime.
The SOC made it clear that the Assad regime aims to murder prominent members of the Central Committee in Houran, activists of the revolutionary movement, and former commanders and fighters of the Free Syrian Army who were forced to agree to settlements with Russian guarantees.
The SOC called on the international community to support the Syrian revolutionary movement which has not subsided for eleven years by supporting political transition in the country in accordance with UN Resolution 2254, and by ensuring accountability for war criminals, chief among them is Assad.
