Free Police in Dara’a Accuses Assad Regime of Encouraging Use of Drugs as Narcotics Seized in Bosra Alsham

The Free Police Force (FPF) in the town of Bosra Alsham in Dara’a province on Monday announced they have seized narcotics in the town and arrested two drug dealers and a number of people suspected of trading in narcotics in coordination with the Assad regime’s Military Security branch in the city of Suweida.

Director of the FPF station in Bosra Alsham, Abu Yazan said that the dealers obtained the narcotics in coordination with the Military Security in the regime-held areas in Suweida. He said the drugs are supplied by the Hezbollah militias.

FPF is distributing leaflets to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs on society in coordination with Ajax company, which provides training and guidance to FPF on how to deal with this kind of materials, Abu Yazan added.

Deputy Commander of the military council in the town of Tseil in rural Dara’a said that they have seized 1,700 pills of drugs inside a playroom in the town on late June of 2016. Investigations traced the drugs to a Jordanian national who was fighting in the ranks of the ISIS extremist group.

On February 26, the criminal security branch of the Assad regime arrested two drug dealers in Damascus, saying that one of them was a commander in the National Defense Forces of the Assad regime who was coordinating with the Hezbollah militias.

Dozens of reports in international newspapers spoke of drug trafficking networks run by Hezbollah and worth of tens of millions of dollars operating in Syria. Drugs trafficking constitute a major source of income for the Hezbollah militias which are aiding the Assad regime in its war on the Syrian people. Preserving independence and national sovereignty and maintaining the Syrian people’s unity within the same Syrian soil
is one of the critical pillars of the Syrian Coalition. The Coalition aims to overthrow the Assad regime along with all its
symbols and pillars. It also aims to dismantle its security apparatus and hold accountable those involved in crimes
against Syrians. In addition, it seeks to achieve a transition to a pluralistic, democratic and civil Syria.
