Rebel and FSA fighters said they captured three regime positions in a surprise attack in northern rural Homs earlier on Tuesday. The captured positions were used by pro-Assad forces as a launching pad for attacks on rebel-held areas in northern rural Homs. Rebel and FSA fighters added that they also seized tanks, armored vehicles, light and medium weapons.
Dozens of pro-regime militants were reportedly killed and injured by rebel fighters who also said they shot down a reconnaissance aircraft belonging to regime forces.
The rebel and FSA offensive north of Homs was launched in support of a large-scale rebel and FSA offensive launched on Sunday to break the siege on Aleppo. The rebel offensive north of Homs is aimed at preventing future ground attacks by regime forces on the rebel-held towns of Alzara and Harbnafsah in southern rural Hama. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
