The Kurdish National Council in Syria strongly condemns the terrorist practices carried out by the Democratic Union Party (PYD) against Syrian Kurds, calling on the Kurdish forces and the international community in general to act urgently to put an end to these reckless practices and protect civilians in the PYD-controlled areas.
On Tuesday, the PYD militia set up checkpoints in the towns of Qamishli, Amouda, and Derbassiyeh to arrest young men and forcibly recruit them. They also opened fire on citizens who did not comply, with reports of injuries.
The Kurdish National Council renews its rejection of PYD’s projects and policies aimed at starvation and harassment of the civilian population. It also denounces the PYD’s imposition of forced recruitment, arbitrary detention, the imposition of taxes, seizure of homes and property of the displaced persons, the imposition of ideologized educational curricula, and other violations and abuses that were reported by media and human rights organizations at home and abroad.
It is worth noting the PYD militia include many child soldiers whose actions are not controlled and who have no consideration for human lives or human rights standards. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
